For my A Level Unit 3 Photography, we created our own questions and briefs for a full project. I chose to do a burning project, focusing on sequences and shutter speed experimentation. The above image is taken from the sequence of a burning bear I photographed. This image out of the whole set is better because it is from the middle of the sequence, capturing enough of the bear and the flame as a pose to just a prominent amount of the two.
I then burnt various other objects like the above doll. I prefer this photograph from this sequence because it focuses on the feet instead of the face, making the doll seem less identifiable as a human being with feelings, perhaps takng the edge of the strange feel of the image.
The next object i burnt was a book, i found this most interesting to shoot as i like the way the pages shriveled up together creating an unusual kind of pattern and the way the flames almost hugged the book.
I also experimented with matches in my burning project, i formed a sequence of the match slowly burning down from start to finish. The above photograph is from the start of this sequence.
